On this day there is no email, no text messges, no blogs, no twitter, no electronics of any kind.
You just sit home and read books on paper and have face to face conversations with living people.
This day used to be celebrated every day in most of the 20th century.
And I'm bringing it back.
Today.

One of the best things about the safari I was just on in Kenya, was exactly that. No TV, radio, or Internet for an entire week. Imagine!
That's the way I grew up--well, we had a radio and a phone, but that was it. It's lovely to take an occasional break to catch our breath.
I guess on this day of celebration, you won't be joining us for comments on the blog, Becky?

Meredith: Wow! We had a radio, but no phone or TV (or electricity, so it was really the radio in the car). I got a LOT more reading done, but I wouldn't want to go back to that permanently.
I'm actually making that day today. In about ten minutes. No, really! Really. I can do it. I can.
